These gradually achieve great efficiency in the production and consumption process.

Thereby, the diseases on herds of cattle and poultry did not happen. The purchase, transportation, slaughter of poultry and quarantine in the area are strictly controlled, ensuring a safe supply for consumers.

Can Tho city Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sub-Department expects that the food demand for the upcoming Lunar New Year will be about 8,400 tons of livestock and poultry products, including nearly 150 tons of beef, 6,200 tons of pork, 2,050 tons of poultry meat, 15,000,000 poultry eggs. Stable consumption

To ensure the consumption for livestock products, Can Tho city’s functional departments associate and sell products for raisers. Recently, in Co Do district, the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City held a signing ceremony for a clean and safe food chain business cooperation between Bach Hoa Xanh Trading Joint Stock Company and Tuong An Company Limited (Tuong An Company). This is an activity connecting from production to distribution to bring livestock products of Can Tho city into consuming in the convenience store systems in the city and localities in the Mekong Delta region.

Tuong An Company raises over 2,400 market hogs with clean and biosafety standards on a farm in Dong Hiep commune (Co Do district). Through the signing, in the first time, Tuong An Company will supply pork to 14 stores of Bach Hoa Xanh in O Mon and Thot Not districts. In addition, the company is also operating 5 food stores in Can Tho city that consumes 10 market hogs per day on average. According to Director of Tuong An Company, Phan The Tuong, the company’s farm has a large scale with 25,000 m2 far from residential areas as the standards of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The company currently has 320 sows and 1,200 market hogs on the main farm and 1,200 at satellite farms. The farm puts on the market about 600 or more market hogs per month and about 50 market hogs per day as estimated to serve the people’s needs of food, especially during Tet and other holidays.

According to Phan The Tuong, in the coming time, the company will continue  to expand the association of raising pigs for meat under a closed model, using animal breeds and feed as standard to increase the number of pigs, ensure the  products for partners and serve the market in the 2022 Lunar New Year.

Sales Manager of Bach Hoa Xanh in Can Tho, Hau Giang and Soc Trang cities, Vu Phi Giao, said: “Through the assessment of specialized units from the livestock farm to the slaughter area, the pig herds raised by Tuong An Company has good quality meat, reasonable price for the market, so the unit decided to sign a cooperation agreement to bring pork into the store chain of Bach Hoa Xanh. For agricultural products of the whole city, in order to be connected more conveniently, in the coming time, it is necessary to have a cooperative to buy products from farmers and ensure goods supplied every day. When there is a stable supply, we will promote and connect with cooperatives to bring more agricultural products of Can Tho city into the Bach Hoa Xanh system”.

Currently, in Can Tho, Hau Giang and Soc Trang, Bach Hoa Xanh has 132 stores, of which 72 are in Can Tho city. During the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, every day the warehouses of the unit in the West imported about 9 or 10 tons of vegetable of all kinds, 3 or 4 tons of livestock and poultry.

Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City, Ha Vu Son, said: “The signing of cooperation between Tuong An Company and Bach Hoa Xanh is the initial success of promoting, connecting and bringing the products of enterprises, cooperatives, production groups in Can Tho city into convenience store chains and supermarkets. Next time, the Department of Industry and Trade will continue coordinating with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, functional departments and localities to maintain, develop and expand cooperation between production and consumption units. We will continue to support family households in the area through businesses like Tuong An Company purchasing and consuming to bring livestock and agricultural products of Can Tho into convenience store chains methodically and sustainably”.
