On December 23 morning, in conjunction with the Soldier - People Tet 2022 activities, the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee of Can Tho City, in collaboration with the Organization Board of the Soldier - People Tet Holidays - 2022 and the Thanh Quoi Commune Steering Committee for Great Solidarity house construction, organized the groundbreaking ceremony of 30 Great Solidarity houses for poor and near-poor households in need of housing in Thanh Quoi Commune, Vinh Thanh District. Mr. Nguyen Trung Nhan, Member of the Standing Board of Can Tho City Party Committee and Chairman of the VFF Committee of Can Tho City, attended the ceremony.

Accordingly, each house was valued 50 million VND, with 20 of them supported by the VFF Committee  of Can Tho City and the rest by the VFF Committee of Vinh Thanh District.

In his speech, Mr. Nguyen Trung Nhan, Member of the Standing Board of Can Tho City Party Committee and Chairman of the VFF Committee of Can Tho City, stated that the social welfare and support for the poor was always a main concern of the administration at city level. Now, the complicated situation of the COVID-19 pandemic was considerably affecting people’s lives, especially those of the poor. Therefore, the construction of Great Solidarity houses for the poor was essential at present, showing the city leaders’ timely care and share to people and community to provide fine houses for the poor to get better in life.

Mr. Nhan also stated that the city was encouraging the mobilization of resources in order to construct more Great Solidarity houses for disadvantaged people in the near future. At the end of the term, the city would have essentially solved the problem of housing for its disadvantaged residents.

The delegates break ground for 30 Great Solidarity houses for poor households in the ceremony

Since the beginning of 2021, the VFF Committees at all levels have constructed 575 Great Solidarity houses for the poor at a total cost of 23 billion VND.
