On December 16 morning, the Standing Board of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee of Can Tho City, in collaboration with the Standing Boards of the VFF Committees of Co Do District and Phong Dien District, organized the ceremony to hand ten Great Solidarity houses donated by the Southern Power Corporation to poor households in need of housing (SPC). Mrs. Nguyen Thuy Hang, Vice Chairwoman of Can Tho City's VFF Committee, and Mr. Tran Vi Duc, Deputy Director and Chairman of Can Tho Power Company's Trade Union, were among the guests who attended the ceremony.

With a total cost of 650 million VND, 10 houses were built with metal roofs, brick walls, elevated foundations with ceramic or terracotta tiles, closed toilet systems, and so on. In detail, the SPC donated 500 million VND, and the remaining costs were covered by the families. On this occasion, the SPC's representatives and local authorities presented ten gifts to these families, hoping that fine housing helps them progressively stabilize their lives and lift themselves out of poverty.

In 2021, the VFFs at the city level mobilized support for the "For the Poor" Foundation, totaling 10.826 billion VND, and collaborated to build and repair 575 Great Solidarity houses, totaling 27.8 billion VND. This year, it is especially practical to care and build Great Solidarity houses for poor households when the City accelerates the socio-economic recovery and development process, safe and flexible adaptation and effective Covid-19 control to well complete its political-economic and cultural-social tasks in 2021.
