At the 4th session of the 10th Can Tho City People’s Council for the 2021-2026 term from December 6 to December 8, on behalf of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee of Can Tho City, Mr. Nguyen Trung Nhan, Member of the Standing Board of the Can Tho City Party Committee and Chairman of the VFF Committee of Can Tho City, proposed 5 major issues to contribute to the socio-economic development and national security and defense of the City.
Accordingly, the Chairman of VFF Committee of Can Tho City requested the Steering Board and Headquarters of the pandemic prevention and control to pay attention and draw on the experience from the previous weaknesses to achieve higher results of pandemic prevention and control, ensuring people’s lives and requisites for them to safely participate in production and business.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Nhan, Member of the Standing Board of the Can Tho City Party Committee and Chairman of the VFF Committee of Can Tho City, gave a speech at the session.
The City continued to pay attention to and direct related units to take more effective measures for implementing the State budget-invested projects; allocate the capital for the medium-term public investment in the period 2021-2025 with priority, focus, key points and strong effects on the City’s development. “The small allocation of the investment capital for development for 2021 and low disbursement rate (below 70%) were a waste and had a bad effect on the socio-economic development rate of the city,” emphasized Chairman of the VFF Committee of Can Tho City.
For education, Can Tho City People’s Committee directed organization of a comprehensive assessment of online teaching and learning quality at all levels; have plans for makeup classes to supplement knowledge for students, especially primary ones, to ensure the quality and adequate knowledge for examinations, particularly the entrance and national high school graduation examinations in 2022.
The Chairman of the VFF Committee of Can Tho City also recommended the Standing Committee of the People’s Council facilitate and direct Boards and Delegations of Can Tho City People’s Council to cooperate with the Standing Board of the VFF Committees at all levels in strengthening social criticism and supervision of the local implementation of political duties to promptly identify, correct and strictly handle the corruption, negativity, profiteering cases and weaknesses in performing assigned tasks, which would contribute to a clean apparatus and good task completion.
In addition, the cooperation between the VFF and related agencies should be promoted to improve the validity and effectiveness of activities by the Party, Administration, VFF and socio-political organizations; facilitate people to supervise, give their opinions on building the Party and the administration and perform political duties in the locality.
