Can Tho City launches “For the Poor” month 2022

The Standing Board of the VFF in Can Tho City - the Mobilization Board of the “Fund for the poor” of Can Tho City - held the launching ceremony of “For the Poor” month 2022 on the morning of October 17th, 2022. At the ceremony, the Organizing Board received over 5.3 billion VND in support. This profoundly political, social, and humanistic event has promoted the tradition of solidarity, the spirit of solidarity, and mutual love of the community in order to care for and assist the poor in rising out of poverty in a sustainable manner towards the 2022 "The whole country joins hands for the poor" Program.

Mr. Tong Van Nhin, Standing Vice Chairman of VFF Committee of the City, said at the ceremony, “Since 2020, the Mobilization Board of the “Fund for the poor” of Can Tho City has received more than 40 billion VND. It has used this fund to support the construction and repair of 1,547 Great Solidarity houses as well as assistance in seed varieties, means of production, medical examination and treatment for the poor.”

According to Mr. Nhin, the city currently has 2,901 poor households, 9,143 near-poor households, and many disadvantaged households that are in urgent need of the community's attention and support to improve their lives and rise out of poverty sustainably.

Responding to the emulation movement "For the poor: No one left behind" for the period of 2021 - 2025 launched by the Prime Minister, towards “For the Poor” month 2022, the Standing Board of VFF Committee - The City's Fund-raising Committee "For the Poor" called on agencies, businesses, organizations, individuals and benefactors inside and outside the city to continue to support more resources to assist many poor people in the city in stabilizing their lives and escaping poverty. "The support of agencies, organizations and individuals inside and outside the city has practical and profound humanistic meanings, contributing together with Party committees and authorities at all levels to well implement social security and sustainable poverty reduction," Mr. Nhin emphasized.
