Mr. Nguyen Trung Nhan, Chairman of Can Tho City's VFF Committee, stated at the ceremony that this was one of the activities to contribute to increasing public awareness of environmental protection, sustainable development, and climate change response in the workplace, households, and residential areas through policies and activities for a greener and cleaner lifestyle. He emphasized, "Each small action by each individual and household to protect the environment and respond to climate change will gain enormous strength, promoting a cultural community as well as a green and sustainable lifestyle. This actively contributed to the development of Can Tho City into a central, ecological, civilized, and modern city with a Mekong Delta identity."

He would like the VFF Committee's Standing Board at all levels in Binh Thuy District and Bui Huu Nghia Ward to regularly organize activities to propagate and raise everyone’s awareness of environmental protection and climate change response, which was identified as the duty of the entire political system, the responsibility and obligation of all agencies, organizations, and the entire community.

It should be encouraged to build and expand residential area models which helps with environmental protection and climate change response in the communities. The "Fighting Plastic Waste" movement, with the content "Solving plastic waste pollution is an urgent issue, requiring frequent implementation with the multilevel and interdisciplinary participation of the entire society," should be carried out on a continuous basis. The project "Zero Waste to Mekong Delta - Piloting a circular economy model" should be well implemented; the strength of the national great unity bloc should be upheld to call for the participation of each enterprise, residential community, and household in environmental protection and climate change response, and so on.

On this occasion, the VFF Committee of Can Tho City cooperated with Binh Thuy District to mobilize to support households in Bui Huu Nghia, Long Hoa, Long Tuyen, Thoi An Dong Wards with 40 compost bins turning waste into organic fertilizer.

Right after the ceremony, the representatives of the leaders of the VFF Committee of Can Tho City, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Binh Thuy District, Bui Huu Nghia Ward, and members of the Women’s Union of Binh Thuy District, the Youth Unions and others commence the campaign to clean the environment, propagate waste classification and disposal, plant mangrove trees for landslide prevention, and collect waste along rivers in Con Son area.
