Can Tho’s support to Cambodian-Vietnamese community in difficulty due to the Covid-19 Pandemic

On the morning of February 28, in Tinh Bien District, An Giang Province, The Command of Military Region 9 together with the Army Command and several Royal Cambodian Army units held a conference to summarize their cooperation in 2021 before signing a cooperation memorandum in 2022.

In 2021, the cooperation between the 9th Military Region Command, the Army Command, and several Royal Cambodian Army units was strengthened, maintained, and achieved some significant results in areas such as: maintaining joint patrol coordination, border protection; ensuring social order and safety in bordering provinces; and assisting in the search for martyrs' remains. Military Region 9 and the people of the Mekong Delta provinces have supported Cambodia twice in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic, with a total of 56,000 USD and materials, medical equipment, and necessities worth 2 billion VND.

In 2022, the parties will continue to sign cooperation agreements and carry out tasks in the following areas: propaganda and awareness-raising among the militaries and peoples of the two countries about the relationship of "good neighbors" beauty, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability"; coordinate border patrol, speed up the progress of demarcation and marking; exchange information, coordinate in checking and verifying information; conduct "The Year of Friendship and Solidarity between Vietnam and Cambodia 2022" in response to foreign activities.

On behalf of the City Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City, Colonel Chiem Thong Nhat, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Commander of the City Military Command, has presented 300 million VND to the Cambodian-Vietnamese community in difficulty due to the Covid-19 pandemic through the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia. This is a wonderful gesture that reinforces the two peoples' long-standing friendship and solidarity, as well as the armed forces of Military Zone 9, the Party Committee, Can Tho municipal government and Royal Cambodian Army units.
