On November 21, 2022, at Can Tho University of Technology, the Can Tho City Department of Foreign Affairs coordinated with relevant units to organize a meeting to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Vietnam-Korea diplomatic ties (December 22, 1992 - December 22, 2022) and the opening of the Vietnam-Korea Culture Day.

Present at the meeting were Mr. Ha Gwang Yun, Head of the Southeast Asia Representative Office of Jeollanam-do Province, as well as representatives of Korean enterprises and communities living and working in Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho City, and the Mekong Delta regions. Mr. Pham Van Hieu, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People's Council; leaders of the People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee of Can Tho City, and officials from departments and districts were present on behalf of the city.
Mr. Nguyen Thuc Hien, Vice Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Committee, expressed his delight at the great achievements of the two countries Vietnam and Korea after more than 30 years of diplomatic and cooperative relations. Korea has been considered as one of Can Tho City’s important partners in the process of international integration. He also thanked the Korean government, organizations and localities for their collaboration and assistance to the city in implementing various practical programs and activities, contributing to the city's overall development He hoped that these strong diplomatic ties will continue to grow.
Mr. Ha Gwang Yun was delighted with the friendly cooperation between Jeollanam-do Province and Can Tho City in particular, and Vietnamese provinces and cities in general, which is fostering mutual trust and friendship. On this occasion, he hopes to work more closely with the City in the near future.
The Organizing Committee awarded the winners of the contest on social media about Jeollanamdo Province, its relationship with Can Tho City, and the cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Korea; presented 270 scholarships (each worth 2 million VND) to students who have overcome obstacles to their academic success and Vietnamese-Korean children who are in tough situations.
After the meeting, the delegates participated in Vietnam-Korea Culture Day. There were 20 booths exhibiting traditional cultures and cuisines of the two nations, as well as many activities such as cooking contests of Vietnamese - Korean foods, martial arts like Vovinam, Taekwondo, music performances like K-pop and others.
